Funding

Bulleted horizontal rule

All projects that we undertake have to be funded. As a charitable company what we provide is our professional expertise and project management skills. The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) provides some annual funding but we have to secure over 90% of our income from other sources including: local authorities, social landlords, the National Lotttery, landfill tax, charitable trusts, the private sector and the European Union. Bidding for funds is a complex process drawing on a variety of our skills with support from our regional and national offices.

How can you help

Bulleted horizontal rule

Firstly, if you have an idea for an environmental improvement, please write, e-mail or telephone us. We will let you know if it falls within the scope of our activities and if it does we’ll meet with you and other local people and often help set up a group to develop the scheme.

Secondly, there are many ways that individuals and organisations can help either with money or gifts in kind. Because Groundwork is a charity, all contributions go towards environmental improvements and can be allocated to a particular project. Companies can of course off-set contributions against tax and we are always careful to acknowledge donations and provide excellent publicity opportunities.

Individuals can also make tax efficient donations through legacies and gift aid. These have the advantage that the Inland Revenue will refund tax to us which often increases the value of a contribution by a third.

Ways that you can help;

  • Funding or sponsorship of an individual project, event, activity or newsletter
  • Through supplying materials such as paint, shrubs, trees, fencing
  • Through loan of equipment such as diggers, power barrows, compacters
  • Through offering a venue for environmental training, presentations or displays
  • Through offering skills and time
