Groundwork Kent & Medway

EDUCATION UPDATE

Over the last few months our Education team have been involved in a whole range of projects. These include working with Brett’s Aggregate and local schools at both their Lydd and Faversham quarries sites. The local Primary and Secondary schools have visited the quarry sites as part of a five week programme funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Another large school’s focused project run between May 09 – January 10 was our ‘Schools for Sustainable Development – Community Action Programme’, backed with funding by Toyota (GB) PLC and Toyota Motor Europe and Medway Council. We have been working with 1 Secondary school and four Primary schools in Medway to introduce them to the Sustainable Schools strategy and support them on their Eco-School journey. This has involved delivering workshops, assemblies, offering support and training to staff and carrying out physical works to enhance the school grounds for learning.

Groundwork Kent & Medway is a unique and vibrant charitable organisation. Established in North Kent in 1990, it has gone from strength to strength, delivering over £20 million of environmental improvements.

Local communities are at the heart of our philosophy and by working in partnership we deliver successful and inspirational projects, from play areas to gardening clubs, skate parks to school activities.

Extending our area of work in April 2007 to the whole of Kent, and employing over 25 highly skilled, committed and enthusiastic staff, we believe we can offer a holistic and imaginative approach in addressing local needs.

Through our website you will find various case studies, the latest news and events and of course meet the teams who make these projects a success. Please contact us if you would like to find out more.

Team Green - Improving the environment

Groundwork Kent & Medway's Team Green is able to undertake grounds maintenance, planting, clean ups and other environmental improvements. We employ and train teams of local people who are long term unemployed, to undertake work that improves the environment across Kent. Teams are fully supervised and have tools and transport.
