Case Study - Forge Green
Forge Green War Memorial
Groundwork Kent & Medway were commissioned by the Halling Association and Medway Council, to transform an area of underused grassland in Halling into an attractive public open space. This prominent space in the heart of the village is overlooked by people waiting for the bus, going to the local shops and is used as a transitional space to different parts of the village. The residents of Halling wanted to create a strong and inviting focal point for their village. The centre-piece of the £15,000 project is a stone War Memorial engraved with the names of all the villagers who lost their lives during both World Wars. The sketch design and consultation was undertaken by the Halling Association, after which Groundwork carried out the detailed design and contract management of the construction work.
